Professor Simon Thirgood
A dear and trusted colleague has now departed. Simon Thirgood an eminent biologist and ecologist died in a tragic accident in Ethiopia last month undertaking what he loved the most; fieldwork and community building in deprived areas. He was only 46 and had committed himself to the North Hunt project through leading the Scottish team from the Macaulay Institute. His excellent track record and unwavering enthusiasm was an inspiration to us all and he will be greatly missed.
The Macaulay Institute has written a detailed eulogy on Simon and his achievements whilst among us.
